At AxessPointe Community Health Centers, we want to educate and empower women to take control of their health. Women’s health includes topics ranging from birth control to annual exams and periods to pregnancy. Women should have their first gynecological exam when they become sexually active or by age 21. It is recommended that women visit their doctor once a year, unless they begin having problems. These problems could include pelvic pain, changes in periods, menopause and irregular bleeding. Regular exams also preventive women’s health measures, including: HPV screenings, birth control and HIV counseling.
