Lying 2 miles to the west of the town of Kirkham, Wrea Green is one of many pretty villages in the borough of Fylde, Lancashire. Wrea Green has approximately 1,600 residents a significant number of whom are employed at the nearby Warton home of BAE Systems – as mentioned above Easthams maintain a strong working relationship with BAE.

The Wrea Green area expects to see significant development in the near future. There are plans for a new housing estate, comprising of 55 house to be built on land in Richmond Avenue. What is more, Fylde businessman David Haythornthwaite is aiming to create “Greenland Sports Village”, which will include a football stadium for growing non-league team AFC Fylde.

The local school Ribby-with-Wrea Endowed C.E. was founded by James Thistleton in 1693. It moved to its present site, after absorbing another local school, in 1845. Children are also encouraged to get involved with the Wrea Green field Day parade. This event, sometimes known as the Club Day, involves fancy-dress, a travelling fair, special stalls being laid out on the village green and the annual crowning of the “Rose Queen”.
